Making decisions about what will happen after we pass away is never easy, which is why so many of us put off deciding until another day. However, failing to make a Will can have severe detrimental consequences on your loved ones. If you pass away without making a Will, under English law, your estate will be distributed using the Intestacy rules.

This legislation is extremely rigid, and may not favour your wishes in terms of who benefits from your estate.

More Than Your Estate

A Will not only deals with the estate, it can also be used to record your wishes and feelings about your funeral arrangements, appointing guardians for your minor children and protecting your assets from nursing fees.

Personal Representatives

Your Will allows your personal representatives to administer your estate. This includes collecting all the assets such as a house, car, savings, investments, life insurance, policies etc., settling all the liabilities such as a mortgage, loan, outstanding bills etc., exercising any available powers and discretion and then distributing the rest of the estate in accordance with the terms of the Will, or the rules of intestacy in the absence of a Will.
